Human Embryo Bio-Computer Proposal
2021-2026

Human Embryo Bio-Computer is an occult ritual performed in response to the societal disembodiment caused by dominant ocular technology. The sound art installation series by Zap Bain is on “The Egg”, a biofeedback meditation-based world building where she imagines integrating her consciousness with an evolutionarily isolated troglodyte used as the hard drive of a “biological” computer.

By making it come to life through AI programing and biomimicry modeling in a video game software, Zap’s work pursues the idea that the sci-fi future is here and now. A large bio-material “pod” is turned into a 3D speaker system that plays back the interaction between the real-time EEG data from Zap Bain and the “alien” biocomputer emulation. The boundaries between inner and outer, technological and biological, mind and body, and pre- and post- creation dissolve as the sound reverberates inside the membrane. By being cut off from external stimuli and immersed in the feedback loop within the egg, Zap Bain then re-emerges in a state of transient embodiment.
